As the popularity of social networking continues to grow so does the demand for the wealth of information generated by everyday Tweets, Facebook posts, comments, etc. It has already become a multi-billion dollar industry and there are many efforts to derive value from all the chatter happening out there. This presentation is a high-level overview of the kinds of data being mined and how this data is being used for profit and for more socially-impactful endeavors.
